Tripadvisor is your best friend. Read hotel reviews and post on the forums to get a general idea of the do’s and don’ts of your destination. I also pay for EVERYTHING on my AMEX card so that I can use the reward points for travel deals (i.e. you can eat out and book hotels for next to nothing). To avoid baggage fees, invest in a travel backpack.

How often do you go on vacation? – Twice a year for a bonafide vacation (e.g. sightseeing, beach, museums, etc.). We also take smaller trips, often to visit family, several times a year.
Where is the next place you want to visit? – There are tons of places I want to go to, I think “next” will just be determined by external factors. For now, some of the places/events on the list include Vegas, the Sundance Festival, Toronto or Montreal, Senegal, the Galapagos Islands, Argentina, Italy, and London.

Do you have a favorite travel website that you like to visit? Any travel tips to share? – Use tripadvisor to find a nice safe hotel that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. This is especially useful if you’re willing to forego a big brand and some niceties (e.g. toiletries in the room, full service restaurant, etc.). I find that on an international “city visit” trip, a safe 3-star hotel located in the heart of things works well for me. Also, travel during the shoulder season. Your money will go farther. Finally, be price check some of the offers at the discount site. When I went to Jamaica, I’d originally planned to buy from cheapcaribbean.com. By the time they added all the separate fees (e.g. taxes, resort fees, transfer costs, etc.), it was more expensive than buying the same trip from American Express travel. Oh, if you’re a Costco member check out their travel agency.

Get into all the rewards programs you can get into. My Minnesota flight was free, and half of our vacay in Hawaii was also rewards-sponsored. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! 🙂

I went to Cancun, in June for 4 days.
I went with a friend who treated me.
I did a LOT of lounging and spent a lot of time in the ocean and on the beach. We were at an all inclusive resort so I did a LOT of eating and drankin! My friend wanted to sitesee so he rented a car and drove to the Mayan ruins for a day. On vacation, I usually will do a tour or excursion then I get back to loungin, eating and drankin! LOL
I make it a requirement to go on vacation EVERY year and to a place that requires a passport!
I would love to go back to Asia or back to Europe.
