  1. What do you do for a living? Do you like it?
*I’m an analyst for my state’s House of Reps. I LOVE it.

What did you study or specialize in college/trade school/the military??
*English & Psychology in undergrad; law in grad

Are you working in that field now?
*Def English…I provide written analyses of bills. As far as law…it’s not traditional legal practice, but my legal knowledge and skills help me tremendously.

Are you in management or a staff/senior level role?
    *staff

Managers: would you really like to go back to a staff role?

Staff: would you really like to be a manager?
*Not here. Great place and people, the work wouldn’t appeal to me, however.

    Office pet peeves?
*The lady in the cube next to me moans a lot, lol.

    9-5′er or shift worker??
    *9-5’er, generally.

    Cube or office??
    *Cube.

Do you have a “private oasis” where you like to go handle your office bathroom business?? Do you go to another floor, like I do?? LOL!!!!!!!
    *LOL, no to both.

  2. Currently an investigator of child abuse/neglect for the state. Taking the MI bar exam and then my sights are set on the Attorney General’s Office.

Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, minor in Philosophy. Law Degree w/a concentration in Constitutional Law & Civil Rights.

Dream area of law to practice in is labor & employment. I’m sort of in my field b/c my concentration covered juvenile law and that’s what I’m doing now.

    In a staff position now.

I would LOVE to be a manager. Remembered those days when I was in hotel management. I’m pretty effective in a lead role even when I don’t have the title.

Office pet peeves: people who have private convos in their cubicle and then look crazy when other folks are discussing it. The break room refrigerator and the COFFEE CLUB! OMG! How those ladies fret over some damn coffee, cream and sugar!!!

8 to 5pm. Although I can work an alternate work schedule of 4 ten hour days, 4 nine hour days and 1 four hour day, etc.

I think my office calls them quasi-offices but they are glorified cubicles to me because there is NO PRIVACY!

No private oasis in our building but if you want some “special time,” there are more bathrooms on the 3rd floor so that is an option.

  3. What do you do for a living? Do you like it? Budget Manager. I likED it. Now with the economy as it is, it’s the pits to have to keep cutting everything.

What did you study or specialize in college/trade school/the military?? Undergrad: Sociology. I went back and got my MBA in 2002.

Are you working in that field now? NO

Are you in management or a staff/senior level role? management

Managers: would you really like to go back to a staff role? No. Although there are more responsibilities, there’s also more freedom. I only supervise one person, so it’s not bad at all.

Staff: would you really like to be a manager?

Office pet peeves? I share an office with my analyst. I HATE when someone else is in the office when I arrive. And please, don’t let me come in and you’re sitting at my desk. I need a moment to settle in before being inundated with other people’s stuff.

    9-5′er or shift worker?? 9-5

Cube or office?? Office with a wall of windows facing the hall, so it’s not private in the least.

Pet peeve: People copying a thousand folks on an email that doesn’t require their attention.

    9-5′er.

    Office.

No “private oasis.” LOL. At my last job the offices were converted from an old hotel so each had its own bathroom. I probably miss that more than anything.

  33. What do you do for a living? Do you like it? I am a GL Accounting Supervisor. Ask me in another couple of months. Trust me.

What did you study or specialize in college/trade school/the military?? In college I studied money. I have two undergrad degrees (long story), one in accounting and the other in financial management. I was in the Coast Guard so I did people training, small arms training, cutter training, administration and search and rescue with a little law enforcement thrown in.

Are you working in that field now? Yes I am.

Are you in management or a staff/senior level role? They say I am a supervisor, but all my peeps are in India. Go figure.

Managers: would you really like to go back to a staff role? YES, PLEASE GOD!!

Staff: would you really like to be a manager? N/A

Office pet peeves? The temperature. I had on a sweater, jacket and shawl yesterday. I also hate people that like to slide on a 90% effort. Either go in or go home, but get out my way.

9-5′er or shift worker?? 8:30-5:30 unless it’s close week then we are in the joker up to 8 or 9pm.

Cube or office?? Cube now. Have had offices before. Really don’t care. I just hate the low cubes where you have to look at each other.

Do you have a “private oasis” where you like to go handle your office bathroom business?? Do you go to another floor, like I do?? LOL!!!!!!! Nope, I usually go to the last stall so no one has to walk past me. LOL.

  34. -What do you do for a living? Do you like it? Manager at a University Medical School over the Research Inst/Ctrs. Love it (mostly because I have a great boss who happens to be the Provost)
-What did you study or specialize in college/trade school/the military?? Negotiation & Conflict Management
-Are you working in that field now? Not directly…
-Are you in management or a staff/senior level role? Professional staff
-Managers: would you really like to go back to a staff role? No
-Staff: would you really like to be a manager?
-Office pet peeves? The smell of burned popcorn – it was so bad once that the alarms went off and we had to wait for the Fire Dept to give clearance.
    -9-5′er or shift worker?? 7:30-4:30
    -Cube or office?? Office
-Do you have a “private oasis” where you like to go handle your office bathroom business?? Do you go to another floor, like I do?? LOL!!!!!!! – On each floor there is a “single” private bathroom – I stay on my floor as there is less traffic…too many students on the other floors.
