Picture a hungry husband and wife, who are wondering what to eat for dinner that’s relatively healthy with minimal carbs. Picture them heading to the grocery store to cook something freshly purchased, cause the executive chef didn’t lay anything out and doesn’t want to thaw anything out. Picture Kroger’s having a hella meat sale. Picture the wife saying she’d love a steak.
Picture this right here:
There isn’t really a recipe for this, it’s just something you can put together and have leftovers too.
We bought 2 T-bone steaks (on sale for 9 bucks, Kroger’s has the BEST meat sales!). They were about 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Total weight of the two was 2.3 lbs. We also picked a beef roast gravy package that came with the plastic bag. Lastly, we picked up 2 bags of frozen veggies (we used Kroger Fiesta Mix – contained broccoli, carrots,
garbanzo beans kidney beans and white beans, but any firm veggie mix will do). We got some other stuff and jetted home.
Take the steaks, rinse them and season with salt, pepper and garlic. Put them in the bag. Dump some onions and bell peppers on top. We keep them chopped up in the freezer. Dump the frozen veggies on top on the onions and bell peppers. Mix the gravy pack with 3/4 cup of water. Pour the gravy mix on top of everything. Seal up the bag, put it in a long pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Steak should be tender and have made some of its own gravy, veggies should be soft but not mushy.
Eat dinner. Be real full. Go to bed. The end.
